One day late, but...
Yesterday I got up and went to class. A few guys and I went to a different mall than normal this one to the south close to the shore. I got ramen with a side of fried rice and melon soda. After lunch, the group split and two people went to do their cultural observations while two people went to do their cultural observations while one guy and I went to wander the shore of the bay while we were waiting for the afternoon lecture to begin. As it turns out, there was still quite a bit of damage along the shore from the earthquake. I may have already mentioned it, but Urayasu is a pretty recently made island (reclaimed land) so it sustained a lot of damage during the earthquake (there is a reason that a good number of the buildings at Meikai look new apparently). Anyways, the shore area was still kinda messed up with huge cracks in the paving and what was flat, flat no longer. Urayasu is a very wealthy area because of the tourists that go to Disneyland, so they are doing a lot for rebuilding it and making it as if nothing happened. There is is pretty massive road work every day in a new area each day I pass on the way to school. The view from the shore was awesome though. Tokyo bay is HUGE!
So we then returned to school for a lecture from an old British gentleman that had lived in Japan for 20 years or so about urban planning and development in Japan and specifically Tokyo.
After the lecture, I returned to the dorm to drop off my stuff, then went to that park that I wandered through during the first week with another friend for a cultural observation. After that, I just did homework the rest of the night.
